Clive Rea

Many of my clients drink too much and too often. A bottle or more of wine a night is not unusual – or binges every weekend.

If you can go without alcohol for 24 hours without any physical effects then you can come for hypnotherapy and break the habit of regular and/or excessive drinking.

Hypnotherapy can also help those addicted to alcohol to not want or need it but the physical addiction needs to also be addressed and managed with medical supervision. We advise alcoholics to attend detox clinics through their doctor or arranged privately before their hypnotherapy session to ensure complete safety.

One session can help cut down or cut out alcohol completely. These are different processes and the options can be discussed and explained before making a booking.

Clive had already taken control of his physical addiction before his session:

This lady is a phenomenon! After thirty years of alcoholism and intermittent depression, trying everything from AA groups to Reiki (and even Red Indian Magic) I came to Julie and I now feel better than I have felt for years.

I have been sober now for eighteen months and the depressions have gone. Eighteen months barring one little slip may not seem a long time, but I feel I am at the beginning of a new life. The thought of alcohol now, event at this early stage seems a distant memory.

I would recommend anyone with the same problems or anyone with problems of a relative nature to see Julie.

She did it for me!

Hi Julie,

I just wanted to say a big thank you. Our meeting in December worked a treat. After a steady Christmas and a totally dry January I now feel like a different person and much more healthy.

Thanks for resetting things for me. Xxxx

Dear Julie,

Having realised that my drinking (especially of Spirits) was getting out of hand I called to see you for help. I'm so glad that I did.

After just one session of Hypnotherapy I can now enjoy a social drink with friends without feeling the urge to binge drink and have not bought a bottle of Brandy - my particular weakness - since our session.

Thank you so much for helping me to turn my life around. I am pleased to recommend you to anyone with similar problems.

Julie,

I'd like to thank you for your service in stopping me drinking.

I have been to numerous pubs/parties and have had no inclination to drink and still enjoyed myself.

I accidentally picked up a glass thinking it was blackcurrant and it contained rum, it tasted like poison!! I spat it out!

Excellent job thanks - I am trying to get one of my friends to go to see you.

Have a great Christmas.

Testimonial in from a female client who wished to remain anonymous:

Before I met Julie I was drinking heavily - any excuse - probably around half a bottle of vodka per night with a very rare night off - it was costing me a fortune and piling the pounds on round my middle.

If I had the day off I would get my jobs out of the way and then start to drink steadily from around 2pm - could get through 2 bottles of wine or a lot of vodka.

I work full time so it was usual to wake up very tired as my sleep was disrupted and feel hot and shakey - my concentration levels were not great and would get wound up very easily.

For the last few years I have run a full marathon and when training for it would stupidly celebrate a long run with a few drinks afterwards!!!! I would also go the gym regularly - get back home - drink and then not eat until around 10pm - not good.

My husband was aware of what I drank and was concerned but never lectured me - he is not a big drinker and likes the occasional glass of wine with a meal.

I then went to see Julie: - my aim was to cut out negative drinking at home on my own - I still wanted to be able to have a drink with friends on a social occasion or if celebrating.

My session took place on a Friday afternoon so the strangest thing was not having a drink on a Friday night - then Saturday and it quickly became a week.

I have just completed another marathon but this year was different - after no drinking for six weeks and eating properly I finished 27 minutes faster than the year before and was 11lbs lighter.

After the marathon I then went out for a meal with my husband - had some drinks but was in control.

Now the marathon is done for another year - I am still feeling positive and want to continue getting fitter/healthier - who knows what my time will be next year?

I would like to thank Julie for helping me to get my life back on track - I am now so much healthier and feel genuinely happy - I no longer feel the need for a drink at the end of the day to wind down.

Hi Julie,

I just wanted to thank you for my Hypno session on the 29th April. So far so good. I have had just 4 SMALL glasses of wine since, and I really struggled with those. Not bad from drinking almost a bottle a day plus 2/3 G & T's. I feel so much better and have lost 8 lbs into the bargain over the past 4 weeks. I shall keep up the good work. I have already recommended your services to several people.

Once again, THANK YOU

Kind regards

Brenda

Diane of Leeds

This is Diane’s story:

I can remember when I left home at 19 and one day I went to the shop and bought myself a bottle of wine. I remember sitting down and having a glass, being all warm and fuzzy and relaxed and thinking it was lovely (and how grown up I was!). I can't be sure what happened to the rest of the bottle but I do know that no way on this earth would I have drunk the rest of it that night!

17 years later I decided that it was time to re-gain that sort of self-control. Gone was the 'I'll just have a glass' and I had become more of a 'tonight, I'm going to have a bottle' sort of person. Occasionally I would leave a glass (I'm basing this on 3 large glasses per bottle), but usually, I would drink the whole lot. That used to be just a Friday OR Saturday, then became Friday AND Saturday then Sunday got involved too and then the other weekdays starting to join in! Before I knew it I was getting through around 4 or 5 bottles of wine a week.

Not to mention the £80 - £100 per month it cost to fund, drinking on an evening was clouding my judgement, making me think that somehow 3 or 4 bags of crisps wouldn't really matter 'this once', which of course I would never do with a clear head or in the middle of the day!

I had various associations such as: Once the kids are in bed I will open a nice bottle of wine, tomorrow when husband is away, I will have control of the TV and I'll have a bottle of wine, Oooh, it's Friday, I'll have a bottle of wine, I've had a bad day, I'll have a bottle…

I've had a good day…and so on.

Seeing Julie was an obvious decision to make as she had successfully stopped me smoking in 2007 so I knew that I really wanted to stop my drinking habit and break all these silly associations, and she would be able to help me do it, just like she had helped me do with cigarettes 5 years ago.

It is 2 weeks today since I saw her, it was a Friday and I went home and had hot water with some lovely expensive Manuka honey in it, just because although I would never have spent that amount of money on the honey, it was going to last and last was actually cheaper than one bottle of wine anyway! I didn’t think about having a drink of alcohol then until the following Friday when I had one small glass of wine, which I didn't actually enjoy that much and the day after I had an even smaller one, which was 'ok'.

It is liberating. I'm going to be significantly better off. I sleep like a log. I'm not thirsty all the time. I'm not consuming 640 calories in wine per night anymore. (Not to mention the crisps!). I look younger already as my skin isn't so dehydrated. I'm not as tired in the daytime and therefore less grumpy! I know I will keep it up because it feels so good to have basically changed my habits. It seems obvious looking back on it. I wish I'd done it sooner!

Thank you so much Julie

Barbara of Leeds

I was just sending a little diary I had kept re feelings on not having a drink. Simple really – no feelings at all – no desire, no cravings, no feeling deprived.

I have been out for meals with friends and husband, I have had the family round and they were going on holiday, thus relaxing and giving the wine big licks!!

I drank water!! I feel quite proud of myself. There has been an open bottle of red wine, out of which my husband has a glass each evening, on the kitchen bar since I came to see you, there is still one there, and I haven’t so much as smelled it. Good eh??

At his “cut drinking” session this client told me he was going camping for the weekend with three friends and nine children. We joked that most people would probably feel like a drink if they were camping in the UK with nine children!

This is his feedback:

Hi,

Just thought I'd give you an update on my week!

So at camping, as expected, when I arrived at about 5pm my friends had already started drinking, albeit slowly. I had a cup of tea...and then another.

I ended up having 2 bottles of beer all evening and all three of my friends had in the region of 6-8 alcoholic drinks each including a couple of large glasses of wine.

On the second day we went for a long walk (5 hours). At the half way point there was a pub and I had 2 pints as did my friends. I really enjoyed every mouthful but it was easy for me not have any more, we then did the 2 hour walk back to camp.

Again when I got back my friends naturally were straight on the beer/wine/cider but I had another 2 cups of tea. I found myself enjoying myself in the group environment whilst drinking tea which was really refreshing (the concept and the tea).

I then had one bottle of beer, did some barbecuing and then opened another one. I only had one mouthful of it and then in was knocked over and all spilled. Usually I would immediately get a replacement but I looked at it and thought nah, don't fancy anymore anyway.

That was Saturday night and I haven't had a drink since or really thought about having one. I know it's early days but I know feel absolutely confident that I can go into a social drinking atmosphere and have a couple or maybe three and enjoy myself which I think is key for me!

Anyway, thanks for your advice and I'll give you an update in a few months.

Kate

Kate chose to cut down on drinking wine rather than stop completely. Here is her story:

Hi Julie,

Hope you're well. It was great to meet you last week. Just want to give you a quick update and let you know how I've gone on these past few days.

Delighted to say the last time I bought wine and drank alone was this time last week, the night before I met you. The only time I have consumed alcohol was last night when I stayed at my mum's house and shared a bottle of wine with her before tea. I did as you advised and drank a large glass of water first which slowed me down and I was able then to pace myself. I felt like I didn’t ''need'' a drink but wanted one more out of curiosity to see if I still liked it!  I concentrated on the taste and it wasn't great...quite vinegary really. I was actually wishing it was a more expensive bottle.

To drink only half a bottle of wine in a week is approximately 10 bottles less than normal which is pretty mindblowing when I think of it that way. I'm very proud of myself especially considering my line of work! I worked an exhausting shift on Friday from 10am until 1230am Saturday morning....at the end of my shift I was invited by my colleagues several times to join them for a glass of wine. I was knackered and grumpy...two big triggers, yet I politely refused and made my way home. It was the last thing I wanted. I'm not saying it's all been plain sailing. There were a couple of points during that shift where I could've murdered a drink. But a little voice inside piped up and said ''a craving is just a thought and it will pass in a few moments''...which indeed it did.

I was on a downer on Tuesday night. Didn’t go for wine though. Don't do that anymore. Lit a lovely fire in the woodburner, made a cup of tea and put on a DVD.

I haven't weighed myself yet because I think I've overeaten this week. However I certainly look less puffy and feel so much better...more alert, calmer, not hungover plus it took a couple of days but I'm now feeling SO tired and sleeping like a baby.

Been invited to a work outing to the Xmas markets in Manchester tomorrow, which I know I will hate because it will be a massive piss up...OMG! Listen to me now! I'll be joining a convent next. Instead I'm going on a lovely long hike and a catch up with an old friend.

I've been frustrated because I can't remember a thing you said to me during the hypnotherapy, only before. Actually, I remember the colour red. It obviously doesn't matter though because my conscious mind is now making some pretty strong decisions. These decisions are no doubt easier for me to make, because of the stuff I can't remember which is tucked away somewhere deep.

Thank you Julie.  Whenever I see red I think of you...and you're probably the only person in the world who knows that's a compliment!! I will write again in a few weeks.

Warm regards,  Kate

Marlene

Marlene came for a special package of 4 weight loss sessions. She was also using alcohol to help her sleep. Three months after her first session she wrote this:

Wow! What can I say, just that on the 5th of April at 2am I was sat with a glass of alcohol in my hand just waiting and praying for sleep to take over. Something that I had been doing for as far back as I can remember.

By 4pm that day, after my first visit to see Julie, a whole new life had opened up to me. Since that day my sleeping pattern has become normal, I don't need any alcohol anymore and I have lost over a stone and at least 2 dress sizes. I haven't needed to go back for my follow up visit yet and feel confident that I will not need to. All I can say is that I wish I had made that appointment years ago.

I had developed a habit of drinking alcohol roughly everyday at home on my own. Never drank too much. Maybe a couple of cans of beer or a couple of shots. Although I enjoyed drinking it something inside me wanted to quit it for financial and health reasons.

I had one session of hypno with Julie and since then had never felt the need for alcohol. In the last 4 weeks I have had half a pint of lager on two different occasions, both times on dinner dates.  I didn't feel like or didn't need to drink any more than that. I have half a bottle of single malt whiskey at home but since the hypno session, never touched it.

A big thanks to Julie, she has transformed my life. I was putting on weight as well, cos I used to eat too much after the drinks. So please guys n girls if you have smoking or alcohol problems – don’t suffer, get this hypnotherapy done. It is not magic, but not short of it either. Good luck.

Hazel of Leeds

Hazel had always enjoyed a few drinks but was finding herself drinking a whole bottle of wine in a night – and more! There had been occasions where she didn’t remember her nights out; her personality changed when she was drinking and she was feeling rough and tired the next day with no motivation to do anything!

Hazel had one session with Julie and wrote this a month later:

Dear Julie,

Can I firstly thank you so much, for changing my life for the better!

I now enjoy a drink without having to get drunk, I look and feel so much better.

No more embarrassing mornings after, that's if I could remember!

I would recommend this procedure to any one who just don't know when they have had enough - till it's to late.

Many clients will return to solve other issues after they've successfully stopped smoking with Julie. D of Leeds came to take control of her drinking habit with one session:

Hi Julie,

Just had to email you on a couple of things. First the drinking, just like the stopping smoking has worked brilliantly for me!!I did 2 drinks last Saturday but that was as we were away for my birthday. However, I have not craved alcohol nor have I even really wanted to drink it but I did enjoy just being able to have 2 and then not have any more. So thanks for that one yet again. You excel!

Just had to tell you as I'm so damned positive for Hypnotherapy in every aspect of life. Should anyone in my family ever need some help somewhere along the line, you will be my first port of call.

Thanks Julie, for everything. My life is wonderful again, my family are back on track my relationship is the best it has ever been and I feel GREAT!!!!!!!!
